Beginning Sounds Alphabet Wheels | Science of Reading aligned

£2.37

This unique Science of Reading aligned resource is designed for young children who are learning to differentiate between the beginning sounds letters make. Featuring both upper and lower case letter on an A4 page, each circle focuses on a single letter and sound.

Children can firstly trace the outline of both letters using just their finger or laminate each circle and use whiteboard markers to trace the letters following the correct formation arrows.

Children will gain confidence in their beginning sound knowledge as they work to isolate and then match the beginning sound of easily identifiable photos of real life objects. Perfect for build phonological awareness in preschool and kindergarten. With gorgeous real life colored photos used throughout, children need to then determine which word starts with the sound around the circle making them ideal for children who are familiar with the first 26 letter sounds and need to practice differentiating between beginning sounds in words.

Children can place counters or pegs over the words that match the target initial sound. Our logo appears as a common anchor point on each card to help children to help children easily recognise which way is up.

Here's what's included -

  • 27 letter wheels featuring the focus letter in the center with selection of real color photos around the outside of the wheel to differentiate and match the beginning letter sound to the focus letter - 1 per A4 page (Set 1 with guided handwriting font to prompt correct letter formation)
  • PLUS editable set of 27 letter wheels to add your own choice of font to
  • Both sets include 2 alternate slides for the letter /x/ - one with beginning sound featured (xray, xylophone, xmas) and another with truer final sound (fox, wax, box)
